The St. James Township Board voted on June 10 to post a part-time township manager position and approved several personnel actions.
A motion by Peirano, seconded by Cole, authorized a three-week posting for a part-time township manager at 28–32 hours per week with a pay range of $30 to $36 per hour depending on qualifications. The motion passed 3–2 with Peirano, Cole and Supervisor Welke recorded as yes and McDonough and Gillespie recorded as no.
The board unanimously approved adding Tessa Jones to payroll as Deputy Clerk at an annual salary of $3,600. The board also moved to hire Tom VanAntwerp as a part-time marina attendant at $16 per hour.
A motion to engage Ethan Kubesh as a part-time township maintenance assistant at $14 per hour passed by roll call with McDonough recorded as the lone no vote; Peirano, Gillespie, Cole and Supervisor Welke voted yes.
The posting for the manager position will be open for three weeks and interviews will be scheduled at a future board meeting; additional hiring steps and precise job guidelines were noted as to be developed prior to hiring.
