Supervisor Welke opened the May 8 special meeting and the board moved quickly to finalize ballot language for the August 2026 election. The board approved two resolutions to place measures on the ballot for fire protection, street and roads, the medical center, and the historical society; Peirano moved and Julie Gillespie supported the motion, and the roll call vote was unanimous.
The board also approved three unique payments during the financial portion of the agenda. The township will pay $130 to Kevin Boyle, chair of the JTAT, for half of his Merit Conference registration from the General Fund. The board approved $7,245 to F&V for 50% completion of parking-lot design work and $25,000 to KM Contracting for mobilization; both were charged to the Marina Fund. Peirano moved to approve the payments, Cole seconded, and the roll call vote recorded Peirano, McDonough, Julie Gillespie, Cole and Supervisor Welke as voting yes.
Board members did not expand on the ballot language or the individual invoices during discussion; all motions on these items passed by roll call. The meeting continued with additional personnel and public-works business following these approvals.
