Frederick County disability commission endorses bill to dedicate part of recordation tax to transit

The Frederick County Commission on Disabilities on Feb. 9 unanimously endorsed proposed legislation to designate a portion of currently undesignated recordation tax revenue for transit services and directed the commission chair to send a letter of support.

Councilwoman Renee Knapp, the County Council liaison to the commission, presented the draft legislation after the scheduled presenter, Reforge United, did not attend. Knapp provided copies of the proposed bill to commissioners and outlined that it would designate a share of recordation tax receipts to support transit services; the minutes record that commissioners asked clarifying questions about the proposed bill’s effects on the transportation budget and the county general fund.

Commission members then moved to endorse the legislation.
