Baldwin principal search draws 77 applicants; interviews scheduled

The Guilford School District reported a large and competitive applicant pool for the Baldwin principal vacancy, receiving 77 applications after posting the position in mid-December.
Superintendent Dr. Freeman said the response is the largest the district has seen for a principal opening and that he and Mr. Bowden screened the applications and have interviewed roughly 25 to 30 candidates for preliminary screening. He said the district will bring a slate of eight candidates to a representative committee for interviews next week and will follow with performance-based interviews on April 2, with additional teacher representatives and department leaders participating.
The superintendent said reference checks and site visits will proceed as appropriate and that the district hopes to recommend a candidate in mid-late April or by early May so a transition plan can begin. He described the search as competitive, with interest from candidates in multiple states.
