Committee endorses multiple change orders for Hartford school construction projects

The Hartford School Building and Construction Committee unanimously approved a series of construction change orders during its June 15 meeting.
Program management presented change order number 46 to Newfield Construction for the Buckley High School renovation, valued at $92,545. "These items have been reviewed and approved by the change order subcommittee, and we ask your endorsement," the presenter said before the committee approved the item following a motion by Mr. Albert Gary and a second from Mr. Clarence Corbin.
The committee then approved change order number 47 to Newfield Construction for central administration work on the Buckley campus, reported as a net credit of $125,369.86. That item was moved by Mr. Corbin and seconded by Ms. Sherry Davis Gooch and passed by voice vote.
Change order number 45 to PDS Engineering Construction for Burns School, with a reported value of $24,321, was approved after a motion by Mr. Gary and a second by Mr. Corbin. Later in the agenda, Colliers staff (Judy) presented change order number 22 for Betances School; she said the PCOs were carried under allowance and that the change order has zero cost to the city. The committee voted to endorse that item.
Colliers also presented change order number 19 for EB Canady School to Downs Construction for $131,617.89 and change order number 10 to Newflo Construction for the Freddy Wish School for $22,268.58; both were moved, seconded and approved by unanimous voice vote.
Mr. Albert Gary noted the batch of change orders on that part of the agenda are eligible for state participation.
All motions were presented as having been reviewed by the change order subcommittee. The committee adopted each endorsement by voice vote; the transcript records unanimous approval but individual recorded votes were not listed by name in the meeting record.
