Guilford board approves October financial reports, hears student updates and accepts $2,000 donation for girls track

The Guilford Board of Education on Nov. 11 approved the district's October financial reports, received student updates from school representatives and accepted a $2,000 private donation earmarked to purchase a permanent high‑jump mat for the girls track team.

Kristen presented the month’s expenditures and said the district is at about 30.35% of the budget, compared with roughly 30.1% at the same time last year. "Right on target," she said when summarizing the report. Kristen noted October revenue totaled $118,800 and included Medicaid and nonresident‑tuition receipts; she also said the district placed an encumbrance in the electricity line for a Retro‑commissioning efficiency evaluation at Guilford High School.

During student reports, the board heard school highlights: Baldwin held a 5th‑grade team‑building trip to Camp Hazen and veterans visited schools; Guilford Lakes reported more than 100 families attended a trunk‑or‑treat; Adams Middle School completed team‑building trips; and Guilford High School noted Tech Week, upcoming performances and postseason success in multiple sports. "Over 100 families attended the Lakes trunk‑or‑treat," the Student Board Representative reported.

The board approved a $2,000 private donation to support a student project that will leave a permanent UCS Spirit 1250 high‑jump mat pad for the girls track team; trustees moved and seconded the item and voted in favor. The board also reiterated that budget‑building work is underway and administrators will present a budget packet in the new year for board consideration.
