Two vendors submitted proposals: Glenn’s Flooring (material + install quoted at about $19,000) and a second vendor at about $27,000. Commissioners debated purchasing materials only and having county staff install versus accepting a vendor install for speed and warranty coverage; the board directed staff to recommend the vendor installation option at the April 28 meeting so the work can proceed with vendor warranty protection.
Separately, staff reported the low responsible bid for the SWAT/storage building at $529,128. Commissioners agreed to recommend the base bid (no alternates) for approval and to proceed with the base contract, subject to confirmation of funding sources and formal award on the April 28 agenda. The sheriff indicated he did not require alternates (floor drains, interior gas heaters), and commissioners agreed to omit them from the base award.
No construction contracts were signed at the work session; commissioners directed staff to place both items on the April 28 consent agenda with the recommended vendor and the SWAT/storage base bid for formal award.
