Mansfield HRC discusses new direction, regional collaboration for 2026 Pride

The Mansfield Human Rights Commission spent part of its Feb. 4 meeting discussing a fresh approach to the 2026 Celebrate Pride event that would emphasize regional collaboration and accessibility.
Jessica St. Louis, a commission staff member, said the group had "talked with towns that touch Mansfield to see if they can collaborate and support each other with various events including Pride," and asked commissioners to brainstorm ideas. Commissioners suggested personal storyboards, activists presenting Pride history, poetry and music, partnerships with LGBTQIA2S+ businesses, and engaging the EO Smith Gay‑Straight Alliance.
Members also discussed changing the date and time of the Pride event to increase accessibility and encouraging outreach to youth organizations. Chair Jeannine Kanadia reported inviting Craig Wultch of the Lions Club to a future meeting to explore collaboration on youth and Pride outreach.
No formal motions were taken on Pride planning at the meeting; staff were asked to continue outreach and bring proposals back to the commission for further consideration.
