The Mansfield Human Rights Commission voted Feb. 4 to approve two letters of support: one backing an expanded Taste of Mansfield and another endorsing EO Smith’s Equity Council Thrive Guide, which the commission will forward to the town manager and chief of shared services for approval to send to the Region‑19 Board of Education.
Chair Jeannine Kanadia presented the letter endorsing the Thrive Guide and explained the commission’s intent to help incoming ninth‑grade students. Hasana Davis moved to forward the draft to Town Manager Ryan Aylesworth and Chief of Shared Services Maria Capriola for approval; Debra Pallatto‑Fontaine seconded and the motion passed with all in favor.
On the Taste of Mansfield item, members discussed increasing the event budget to support two events. Debra Pallatto‑Fontaine moved to approve a letter of support; Hasana Davis seconded and the motion passed with all in favor.
Both actions were recorded as motions that the commission approved during its regular meeting; each motion passed unanimously. The commission did not finalize further administrative steps at the meeting beyond directing staff to seek the approvals specified in the motions.
With one member’s departure later in the meeting, the commission lost quorum and adjourned at 7:36 p.m. The items will proceed through the town’s stated approval channels as directed by the motions.
