Rachel Nelson, a first‑grade teacher and co‑coordinator for the district Q Comp committee, presented the annual Q Comp (teacher‑leadership and compensation) report to the board.
Nelson said Q Comp is a voluntary statewide program that funds teacher leadership positions, mentoring for probationary teachers and targeted professional development. She told trustees eight teacher leadership positions were funded in the year and those roles were held by 21 individuals across the district, with 11 serving as mentors for probationary staff. Nelson said the district created a PLC calendar and strengthened agendas and expectations for professional learning communities, which increased consistency and accountability.
On outcomes, the district reported meeting site goals based on FastBridge assessments at both elementary and secondary levels, and Nelson said 100% of teachers met required teacher‑evaluation expectations under the program. For finances, Nelson reported Q Comp revenue of about $151,000 for the year and expenditures of approximately $132,000, leaving a remaining fund balance of roughly $109,000. She said the district is mindful that Q Comp funding has been targeted for state cuts and intends to preserve a reserve in case funding declines.
Board members thanked Nelson and had no additional questions.
The district will continue implementation and monitor funding prospects at the state level.
