Paynesville board approves preliminary 2026–27 budget, custodial contract and food service awards

The Paynesville Public School District board approved routine fiscal and contract items, including the preliminary 2026–2027 budget, a custodial master agreement and recommended vendors for food service bids.
Board members said the 2026–2027 preliminary budget reflected no substantive changes from previous presentations and moved to approve it by motion. "There have been no changes since this was walked through over the last couple of meetings," a board member said before the board voted to approve the preliminary budget.
The board then considered a custodial master agreement covering 2025–2027. A motion to approve the custodial contract carried by voice vote.
On food service procurement, staff explained the district issues bakery and dairy bids biennially. One bakery bid was received; for dairy the district received two proposals. After reviewing unit prices and inflation language, staff recommended awarding the dairy contract to Stony Creek Dairy. The board approved the recommended award; the vote on the dairy recommendation was referenced in the meeting as 5–1.
Board materials and staff comments indicated no significant fiscal flags in year‑end reports. The superintendent said staff will work to present revenues and expenditures in a more user‑friendly one‑page summary going forward.
