Todd told the Granby School Committee that the district had submitted an initial FY27 budget draft that reflects a less than 2% increase over FY26 and that staff had arranged follow-up meetings with town leadership to finalize in-kind expenses and any additional town contribution.
"We are still in the early phases of our budget development. We've sent our initial draft with a less than 2% increase over FY26 for our FY27 budget," Todd said. He said the administration is coordinating a meeting that will include the school committee chair, the finance committee chair, a selectboard representative, the town administrator and the superintendent to set final benchmarks. The district intends to present the budget at a town budget hearing on March 24, followed by a budget forum and a vote at the May town meeting.
Todd said once benchmarks are finalized the district will prepare a final budget presentation. Committee members also discussed schedule contingencies tied to upcoming storm forecasts and on available professional-development days that might affect the calendar or staffing decisions tied to the budget.
Next steps: finalize benchmarks with town officials, prepare the March 24 hearing materials and schedule the public forum ahead of the May town-meeting vote.
