Interurban ridership edges up; officials plan new South Haven route and Fennville shuttle

Muncey said Interurban carried 4,069 passengers in November, 193 more than November of the prior year, and that the service will offer free rides on New Year’s Eve between 6 p.m. and 1 a.m. as part of a safe-ride effort. Staff are developing plans for a weekly route to South Haven and are working on a shuttle to Fennville; the latter remains in development. Muncey said expansion aims to provide affordable transportation for people accessing medical appointments, groceries and other essential errands.
The Interurban team is expanding service hours and exploring ways to serve additional areas; a fiscal-year 2024 audit is expected in January and will be provided to the city.
