Natick COA Housing Subcommittee finalizes plan objectives, readies staff questions and outreach steps

James Fitzgerald, COA Housing Subcommittee Chair, recorded that committee members Linda Jaffee, Paula Panchuk and Laura Forker participated. The subcommittee made modest changes to the plan’s objectives and agreed those revisions prepare the plan for the Strategic Planning Committee’s consideration.
Members also reviewed and edited a set of questions for COA staff about senior housing. The group agreed to submit that question list once staff member Donna returns; the transcript states that will occur “if it is within the next month or so,” and the timing of Donna’s return was not specified.
The subcommittee reviewed a presentation on how affordable-housing applications and lotteries operate and resolved to attend an upcoming Metrowest Housing Collaborative program at the NCSC to deepen members’ understanding of the application process for affordable housing.
As a complement to outreach and education, committee members brainstormed hosting knowledgeable housing counselors periodically at the NCSC to provide housing-related guidance in a role analogous to SHINE volunteers but focused on housing counseling. No further program details, funding sources or schedules were recorded in the minutes.
The subcommittee finalized the points above for presentation in summary form to the full COA board at its March 9 meeting. Members scheduled their next subcommittee meeting for the Wednesday prior to the COA Board meeting of April 11, 2026 (the Wednesday prior is April 8, 2026). The meeting adjourned at 1:45 PM.
