At a glance: Saugatuck Council approves rate-study contract, landfill due‑diligence and $1.94M in payments

Saugatuck City Council on Oct. 28 approved several routine and project-related motions, including a $21,000 contract for a water and sewer rate study, a development due‑diligence agreement for the old landfill property, and accounts payable totaling $1,941,333.32.

A motion by Councilmember Muncey, seconded by Mayor Pro-Tem Baldwin, approved Bendzinski & Company Municipal Finance Advisors to conduct the city’s water and sewer rate study for $21,000. In the same meeting the council approved a Development Due Diligence Agreement with Saugatuck Township for the old landfill property; Mayor Pro‑Tem Baldwin moved and Councilmember Muncey seconded that motion, which passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.

Earlier in the meeting Councilmember Anderson moved—and Mayor Pro‑Tem Baldwin seconded—approval of accounts payable totaling $1,941,333.32; that motion also passed unanimously.

Items bundled into the consent agenda included approval of minutes, a Veterans Day special event, appointment of Joe Clark to serve as the council representative to the Planning Commission, temporary designation of Scott Herbert as acting city manager while the city manager is out of the country, and Resolution 241028-A authorizing an on‑premises tasting-room permit for Noble Twist Tap House. The consent agenda was approved on a motion by Mayor Pro‑Tem Baldwin and second by Councilmember Anderson with a unanimous roll-call vote.

All recorded motions passed by unanimous vote with seven councilmembers present; no items were tabled or failed. The council adjourned at 8:11 p.m.
