Council approves Habersham Meadows replat with parking requirement for mail kiosk

The Demorest City Council unanimously approved a replat in the Habersham Meadows subdivision on Aug. 6, requiring the new mail kiosk parcel to provide the same parking as the existing kiosk.
Tina Hughes, who identified herself as representing the seller, explained the request to replat three lots into four to create buildable single-family lots and to designate an area for a proposed mail kiosk. Council discussion noted that homeowners in front of the current mail kiosk had been using the parking spaces there. Councilman Andrew Ferguson specifically raised concern about preserving parking when the kiosk is relocated.
Councilman Shawn Allen moved to approve the replat with an added stipulation that new lot 63 (the mail kiosk) provide an equal amount of parking as the previous kiosk; Councilman Jimmy Davis seconded. The motion passed unanimously (4–0).
The council did not record additional conditions beyond the parking requirement. The approval enables the seller to proceed with the subdivision reconfiguration subject to the recorded stipulation.
