Sterling selectmen approve $166,383.96 in invoices, appoint Agricultural Commission member; several items tabled

The Sterling Board of Selectmen approved monthly invoices totaling $166,383.96 at its March 18 meeting and reviewed routine town business.
Patricia Massey moved and Jack Joslyn seconded approval of the invoices; the motion passed 2-0. The treasurer’s report was reviewed.
The board appointed Krista Kettle to a three‑year term on the Agricultural Commission, expiring March 12, 2028; the motion to appoint carried 2-0. The board voted 2-0 to retain a set of 72‑inch culvert pipes after unsuccessful attempts to reach an outside buyer, and it declined to pursue an unclaimed property claim of $4.65 (the State Treasurer’s notice had listed a larger potential amount). Treasurer Sara Sleboda introduced the town’s Cash Policies; Patricia Massey moved to table review of that item until April 15 to allow the Selectmen time to study the policies.
Other items: Joslyn reported OSHA had closed abatements from an asbestos inspection. Massey read a letter from the Economic Development Commission about the former Town Hall and Joslyn said more research is needed to identify a viable solution.
