The Sterling Planning & Zoning Commission placed a proposed text amendment to Section 5.02.A (Non-Conforming Buildings and Structures) on its regulation priorities list and assigned review responsibility to the chair and consulting planner.
Chair Jason McLevy and Consulting Planner Jim Larkin will review the current language and bring a recommendation to the next regular meeting. The commission did not adopt language at the March 16 meeting but identified the section as a priority for amendment.
Why it matters: non-conforming building rules determine how existing structures that do not meet current zoning standards can be altered or rebuilt. Updating Section 5.02.A could change property owners' options and the commission's discretion in issuing approvals.
Next steps: McLevy and Larkin will examine the section and prepare a proposed text amendment and recommendation for the commission to consider at a future meeting.
