Killingly board approves KHS broadcast class trip to national convention in Tampa

Dan Durand, representing KHS, told the board the district has sent students to the convention almost every year and that fundraising and sponsorships are used to lower out-of-pocket cost for families; he estimated typical student expenses at about $300–$400. Kevin Marcoux moved to approve the request and Misty Murdock seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Board members framed the trip as a hands-on, competitive learning opportunity that connects students with national peers and professional experiences. The board did not set a specific dollar cap in the motion; Durand said the program uses fundraising and sponsorships to cover most costs.
