The Killingly Board of Education unanimously approved a third access-road proposal that avoids all wetland impacts and signaled readiness to begin work under that plan, Superintendent Susan Nash reported on Sept. 10.
Nash told the board the district chose a version of the access road that eliminates wetland disturbance; the board did not vote separately on the road but Nash said the plan has been approved and the district is prepared to commence under that design.
Separately, the board moved and approved an Alliance Grant budget and application that funds after-school club staff and a $5,400 allocation for a CHR program. Board member Kyle Napierata made the motion to approve the Alliance Grant as presented; Kyle Marcoux seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
No amendments or conditions were recorded in the meeting minutes. Nash noted that some after-school staff positions are paid from the Alliance Grant and reiterated that the CHR allocation is included in the proposed budget.
Next steps: grant paperwork will proceed as authorized; facilities staff will move forward on the access-road work under the wetland-avoidance proposal.
