Corning Community Schools board approves teacher contract, emergency plan and supplemental funding

Superintendent Chris Fenster gave routine reports that included open enrollment, the Superintendent Advisory Team and safety-grant activity. Administrative updates from principals Jennifer Bissell and Allison Thomas were presented.
Adam Hawxby of Estes Construction provided a construction update and reported there were no change orders at this time.
On safety planning, the board approved the district's Emergency Response Plan as presented; the motion was made by Stephanie Hodapp, seconded by Trent Roberts and carried unanimously.
On funding, the board approved two modified supplemental amounts: $155,976.20 to reflect increased enrollment and $139,708 for At-Risk Dropout support, both motions passing unanimously. In separate action, the board adopted a resolution consistent with Iowa Code section 257.14 to levy property tax so that the district's regular program district cost for 2025-26 will be 101% of the 2024-25 amount; that resolution passed unanimously.
