Corydon council adopts FY25 budget amendment after public hearing

The Corydon City Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2025-020, approving FY25 Budget Amendment #1, following a public hearing at its Oct. 9 meeting. City Clerk Stacy Gibbs reported that no written comments had been received at City Hall and no members of the public spoke during the hearing.
The move followed a motion to open the public hearing by Councilor Kenny Holmes, seconded by Councilor Chase Clark; the hearing was closed on a motion by Clark, seconded by Councilor Kyle Hampton. The motion to adopt Resolution 2025-020 was made by Councilor Dawn Christian and seconded by Clark; the vote was 5–0 (Christian, Clark, Hampton, Holmes, Wolfe).
Gibbs also presented the FY24 Street Finance Report, required by the Iowa Department of Transportation, and the FY24 Annual Finance Report, required by the Iowa Department of Management. Council approved both reports on Oct. 9 by unanimous votes. The Annual Finance Report shows a positive budget balance for FY24.
Why it matters: the approved amendment and the filed finance reports keep the city in compliance with state reporting requirements and authorize adjustments to the FY25 budget that staff said are needed to align spending with current project and operating needs.
The council set its next regular meeting for Oct. 23, 2024, at 5:30 p.m.
