The Des Moines County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 17 approved routine fiscal and personnel items, including $754,235.97 in accounts-payable claims and a $1,408 payroll‑reimbursement claim.
The board considered the accounts-payable total — which the chair read into the record — and, after a motion and a second from Auditor Sarah Marie, voted to approve. Supervisors Tom Broker, Jim Carrey and Shane McCall joined Sarah Marie in affirmative votes.
The board then approved payroll-reimbursement claims of $1,408 after a motion that was seconded by Tom Broker. Supervisors recorded unanimous yes votes on the item.
Also on the consent portion of the agenda, the board approved three personnel items for the correctional center: unpaid-time entries for Rian (also shown as Rianne) Anderson (17.339 and 16.85 hours) and the resignation of part-time correctional officer Chloe Ravenscraft, whose final date was listed as Feb. 18, 2026. The personnel package was moved, seconded and carried by the supervisors present.
The board approved continuation of an annual agreement under which several incorporated cities contract with the sheriff’s office for law‑enforcement services. County staff described the agreement as an annual contract providing specified hours of patrol, response and investigative support to cities that opt to contract with the sheriff. The motion to continue the contract passed on a unanimous voice vote.
The board also approved minutes from its Feb. 10 regular meeting and accepted the sheriff’s fees report for January. No dissenting votes were recorded during the public actions taken in open session.
What’s next: The board will continue routine fiscal oversight at future meetings; no follow-up votes were scheduled in open session on the items approved Feb. 17.
Votes (as recorded in the meeting): Sarah Marie (Auditor) — second/yes; Tom Broker — yes; Jim Carrey — yes; Shane McCall — yes. The meeting record did not record a named mover for the accounts-payable motion.
