Council approves Oct. 26 5K; Jackson Street and courthouse lots to close

The Corydon City Council unanimously approved street closures for a 5K run/walk scheduled for Oct. 26, 2024, after a presentation by organizer Tisha Pruett of the Fast and Furious Run Club.
Pruett told the council she plans to use the same route as the Old Settlers 5K and asked whether Jackson Street could be closed to allow post-race activities on the square including food trucks. Council members suggested specifically closing Jackson Street from Franklin Street to DeKalb Street and closing the south and west courthouse parking lots. Chase Clark moved to approve those closures and Dawn Christian seconded the motion; the council voted aye unanimously.
Pruett said she would relay the council’s suggested route changes to her committee and contact the sheriff’s office to coordinate law enforcement support. The minutes do not record a formal permit fee or any conditions imposed by the council in the motion.
