Zoning officer reports cleanup progress at 80 Marcy Road, flags noncompliant truck body

Jay Gigliotti, Chaplin’s zoning enforcement officer, reported to the Planning & Zoning Commission on Aug. 14 that property cleanup at 80 Marcy Road has shown “definite progress,” including removal of six standard-size heating oil tanks from the woods and clearing of debris in the front yard.
Gigliotti said he and family members met with the property owner to walk the site, identify remaining violations and prioritize work. He told commissioners a truck body with a tree growing through it remains on the property and is “nowhere near compliant,” and said additional removal or remediation is still required.
The update included recovery of a swing bench that had been buried and is now usable, and photographs from July and August documenting the changes were presented. Gigliotti did not announce a compliance deadline during the report.
The commission did not take formal new action during the report; commissioners later discussed staffing and other agenda items before adjourning.
