Sudbury COA adopts FY2026 strategic plan and agrees to pursue nonvoting associate members

The Town of Sudbury Council on Aging approved a five-point FY2026 Strategic Plan at its Oct. 6 meeting and agreed to pursue procedures to add associate, nonvoting members to the board.
Pat Tabloski presented a two-page handout outlining the strategic plan. Board members discussed each point at length and ultimately voted to approve the plan and expand implementation discussion going forward. The minutes do not specify the roll-call vote tally for that motion.
On membership, the Council reached consensus to pursue associate members who may attend and participate in discussion but not vote. The Membership Committee—Joel Bauman, Don Sherman and Carmine Gentile—will meet to develop procedures for adding nonvoting associates and alternates.
Members also discussed approaches for a new needs assessment to inform program decisions. Concerns were raised about how best to gather data from older adults; the board debated using QR codes and online surveys and requested staff consider alternative outreach methods for less tech-enabled participants.
The board also scheduled a 15-minute presentation from Goodnow Library Director Amy Stimac for the next meeting and noted forthcoming presentations from a food pantry representative and a social worker in December or January.
