Westborough swears in Corporal Nicholas Anthony and introduces five new officers

The Westborough Select Board opened its meeting with a police promotional ceremony in Memorial Hall for Nicholas (Nick) Anthony, who was sworn in as a police corporal.
Police Chief Todd Minardi introduced Anthony and five recently hired officers, describing the promotional process led by Hiner Hand Consulting LLC and an internal evaluation by command staff. "Corporal Anthony finished first overall in the process reflecting his preparation, professionalism, and commitment to the department," Minardi said. Anthony, who grew up in Natick, was pinned by his wife and repeated the oath administered by the town clerk.
Chief Minardi also introduced Officer Daniel Farrell (joined April 2025; background as a Milford 911 dispatcher and Westfield State criminal-justice graduate), Officer Timothy Goddard (joined May 2025; Liberty University graduate and Lynnfield Police Academy alumnus), Officer Samuel Hanson (joined June 2025; University of New Haven graduate and prior service with New Orleans Police Department), Officer Hannah Lima (joined December 2025; Boxboro and Framingham State and Northeastern-educated), and Officer Ian Flora (joined March 2026; Westborough native and Westfield State graduate). Minardi emphasized that many of the department's new hires bring field training, crisis-intervention, and community-engagement experience.
The board and the public applauded after the oath and photographs followed. The Select Board offered congratulations and thanked the chief for bringing forward the promotional and hiring recommendations.
The swearing-in was ceremonial and no board action beyond recognition was required.
