Councilmember Camarata moved to direct the city attorney to prepare a resolution re‑dedicating the alley and Feaker introduced Resolution #0813202503, which the council approved by unanimous roll call. Mayor Sadie Six directed the city clerk to record the adopted resolution with the Grundy County Recorder.
Separately, the council approved changes to Chapter 7 ("Trees and Shrubbery") of Title VI of the city code. The amended ordinance prohibits placing any new tree or shrub in the public right‑of‑way without express written permission of the council; assigns responsibility for routine maintenance to the abutting property owner (with the city responsible for removal of diseased or dead trees); sets minimum clearance heights for branches over streets (13 feet) and sidewalks (9 feet); and gives the superintendent of streets authority to remove trees in the right‑of‑way. The ordinance was advanced through required readings and adopted by unanimous roll call vote.
Council members also handled routine business including approval of a consent agenda, renewal of a liquor license for Fox Ridge Golf Course, and approval of Dollar General’s tobacco/cigarette license. The council approved the FY25 Street Finance Report for submission to the state, accepted monthly financial reports, and allowed payment of claims in the packet.
