Dike council adopts new water rates, effective April 1

Councilmember Mikkelsen moved and Councilmember Lynch seconded a motion to approve the third and final reading of an ordinance amending section 3.1.13 of Dike’s municipal code to set new water rates; the motion passed on a unanimous vote.
The ordinance sets a monthly meter fee of $15.00 and a usage charge of $5.62 per 1,000 gallons for customers inside the city limits. Where water service has been temporarily disconnected for nonpayment or rule violation, service will not be restored except by written order of the clerk and payment of all overdue charges plus a $50 reconnect fee. Customers who request disconnection will be charged a $50 disconnect fee and a $50 reconnect fee when service is restored. The changes take effect with the April 1, 2025 billing cycle.
Before final approval the council voted to suspend the usual second- and third-reading schedule so the ordinance could be adopted at the same meeting; Councilmember Feaker moved to suspend the rules and the motion carried unanimously. Councilmember Camarata had moved to approve the first reading earlier in the meeting.
The ordinance applies to all municipal water customers. No public comment or recorded objections appear in the meeting minutes. The clerk will implement the new rates in the next billing cycle and notify customers as required.
