The Macomb Committee of the Whole discussed an ordinance to create designated parking areas at electric vehicle charging stations across the city and placed the ordinance on the full council agenda for second and final reading next Monday.
The ordinance previously had its first reading on June 15 and was discussed at the June 22 committee meeting. The chair asked staff and council members for status updates on the proposed locations and implementation.
"I have. We’ve purchased signs to put at the spots and yes, pavement markings also," said Alderman Dorset when asked whether she had had a chance to review proposed locations, indicating the city has taken preliminary steps to mark EV charging stalls.
The committee voted to place the item on the agenda for the next City Council meeting for final action; no final vote on the ordinance occurred at the committee meeting.
