Kiwanis chapter launching in Trussville; probate judge candidate introduces priorities at council meeting

Newman said meetings will be held the first and third Thursday of every month at the athletic center and invited interested residents to contact her after the meeting.
Later, Shea Red Blanchard introduced herself as the Democratic nominee for Jefferson County Probate Place One and summarized her 11 years of legal practice in probate and veterans law. She outlined three priorities if elected: "I want to make sure that dockets are not clogged up and they're clear to get cases out; I want to make sure as the Probate Judge is the chief election official so that judge is over all of the elections I want to make sure that all of the constituents ... are educated on voting; and I want to make sure that there are fair elections," she said. Blanchard urged listeners to vote on November 5 and asked for their support.
Council members thanked both speakers; no formal action was taken on the items raised during public comment beyond the standard invitation to follow up with city staff.
