Mayor William Cougill called the City of Early council to order at 6:00 PM on Dec. 3, 2024. The council voted unanimously to approve the consent agenda, which included bills and receipts totaling $101,142.45.
The clerk identified several sizable line items in the packet: an Iowa Finance Authority interest payment of $38,866.36, Pay App #9 to Empire Excavating for $10,212.59, an administrative bill for the DD59 project to Region XII for $1,717.00, and a sewer-interest payment of $3,228.75 to the Iowa Finance Authority. The clerk presented the list of routine bills and payroll-related withholdings that were approved as part of the consent agenda.
Councilor Brian Pickhinke made the motion to approve the consent agenda; Councilor Brandon Scadden seconded. The roll call showed all five council members voting aye: Scadden, Madden, Langner, Pickhinke and Blackman. The motion passed.
The council took no separate votes on individual line items at the meeting; those payments were approved as part of the consent agenda. The meeting adjourned at 6:38 PM.
The council’s next regular meeting is scheduled for January 2025, when additional items — including any follow-up on capital projects or invoices requiring further discussion — may return to the agenda.
