The Dike City Council accepted a $9,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa for new playground equipment at the city park and approved using local-option sales tax (LOST) community betterment funds to pay the remaining cost.
Councilmember Camarata moved to use LOST funds to cover the balance of the project, described in the record as a total cost of roughly $14,000; Councilmember Lynch seconded and the motion carried on an all-aye vote. The planned purchases listed in the minutes include a new slide, an inclusive spinner and solo spinners to replace equipment that had been removed.
Earlier in the meeting, youth presenters Brayson Schmitz and Grayson Hartsock asked the council to repair the basketball court by the swimming pool, requesting new chain nets, repainting and a check on a lighting issue. The council approved installation of new nets and repainting, and directed maintenance staff to investigate and address the light problem.
The clerk announced a public meeting to review pool renderings and hold an open forum; the minutes list the meeting for March 23 (transcript lists 2025, corrected to 2026 as a clerical error), when the council will hear public input on pool plans.
