The Dike City Council handled a series of routine items on Jan. 14, approving the consent agenda, confirming 2026 appointments, authorizing payment of the bills, and receiving departmental updates.
On a motion by Lynch and second by Mikkelsen the council approved the consent agenda, which included the sheriff’s report, library report, approval of minutes and delinquent utility accounts.
Council approved the liquor license renewal for Slice UltraShed. The council also approved the following 2026 appointments by unanimous vote: Peoples Savings Bank as the city depository; Dan Morgan as city attorney with Lynch Dallas P.C.; Grundy Register as the newspaper of record; Lindsay Nielsen as city clerk; Ann Hilliard as deputy clerk; and Mike Camarata as mayor pro tempore.
The council authorized payment of bills listed in the register, which totaled $104,869.33 and included payments for utilities, a Grundy County Sheriff contract, engineering services, and routine supplies and repairs. Council approved the city’s financial reports and allowed the bills to be paid.
The fire/ambulance report noted 16 EMS calls and two accident responses last month; both ambulances underwent DOT inspections and require repairs to remain certified; the rescue truck needs new tires; and a new ambulance could be ready in three to four months. Public works reported cutting down roughly 20 trees along the trail and that quotes for a new mower are forthcoming. The city clerk announced budget workshops for the fiscal 2027 budget would begin next week.
The meeting adjourned after the listed business.
