Dike council approves ambulance financing, equipment purchases and sets budget hearing dates

The Dike City Council on Feb. 11 approved a package of routine and capital actions including financing for an ambulance, equipment purchases, license renewals and scheduling of upcoming budget-related hearings.

Council members voted unanimously to accept Peoples Savings Bank's five-year loan offer for the new ambulance and to proceed with bonding after discussing five- versus seven-year loan terms. Council member Camarata introduced Resolution #0211202607, seconded by Lynch, and the resolution was adopted by roll call.

Separately the council voted to sell the outgoing ambulance rather than accept a trade-in when the new ambulance arrives (motion by Camarata, second by Lynch, unanimous). The council also approved a bid to purchase a John Deere Z960M mower from Van Wall for $13,400 after reviewing five bids presented by Rob.

Routine business included approval of the consent agenda (sheriff's report, library report, minutes and delinquent utility accounts), renewal of the KwikStar liquor license, approval of financials and approval of bills to be paid. The council reviewed a check register and vendor list with a total of $150,428.33 for the period shown; the motion to allow and pay the bills passed unanimously.

The council set the proposed property tax hearing for March 25, 2026 at 6 p.m. (Resolution #0211202605) and scheduled a special meeting for March 25 at 6:30 p.m. to set the budget hearing date (Resolution #0211202606). City Clerk Lindsay Nielsen announced budget workshops on Feb. 18 and 25 at 6 p.m. and said the city expects to hold a public open house in March to display revised pool renderings and cost estimates.

Mayor Sadie Six closed the meeting with thanks to maintenance staff for recent emergency work; the council adjourned by unanimous vote.
