Dexter approves $6,000 retirement contribution for volunteer firefighters

Casey Erwin, speaking on behalf of the Dexter Volunteer Fire Department, reported the department has 20 volunteer members and requested the city make its customary contribution to the firemen’s retirement program. Councilmember Tim Taylor moved and Diane O’Connor seconded a motion to authorize $6,000 to be paid to the Dexter Fire Relief Association (equivalent to $300 per active firefighter); the motion carried unanimously.
The payment continues the practice of annually supporting the retirement program for volunteer firefighters; no additional conditions were recorded in the minutes.
