The Dexter City Council voted Dec. 1 to have the city pay 100 percent of the cost of the new Paid Leave Program for city employees.
Clerk Natalie Carroll explained the program rate and presented cost scenarios if the city paid 50 percent versus 100 percent of the rate. Councilmember Diane O’Connor moved and Casey Erwin seconded a motion for the city to cover the full cost; the council voted unanimously.
No dollar total for the city’s annual fiscal impact was specified in the minutes. The clerk’s office will implement the payroll changes needed to enroll municipal employees under the city-paid option.
