Dellwood council adopts cannabis ordinance, allows official summary publication
Summary
The Dellwood City Council unanimously approved a locally tailored cannabis ordinance recommended by the Planning Commission and authorized an official summary to be published in place of the full text.
Dellwood — The City Council unanimously adopted a cannabis ordinance at its March 11 meeting after consideration by the Planning Commission and the City Attorney.
City Planner Nate Sparks presented a memorandum and a proposed ordinance modeled for local conditions. Sparks said the law “prohibits the City from preventing a cannabis business entirely,” and explained the Planning Commission had held the required public hearing and recommended approval. City Attorney Richard Copeland told the Council the ordinance “appears to be a good match for Dellwood.”
Mayor McGill moved to approve the ordinance as submitted and to permit publication of an official summary in lieu of publishing the full ordinance text; Council Member Karen Quaday seconded the motion and the council voted unanimously to adopt the ordinance.
The council record lists a Planning Commission public hearing and supporting memoranda; the official summary will be published as allowed by local publication rules. No effective date for the ordinance was specified in the meeting minutes.
