Council members discuss possible amendments to the Excelsior Fire District Joint Powers Agreement

At the start of Monday’s workshop, Councilmember Tony Jewett summarized a May Fire Board meeting in which suggested amendments to the Excelsior Fire District Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) were discussed.
Jewett said the suggested amendments had been presented on behalf of the City of Deephaven and that the Fire Board asked each member city to discuss the proposals with their respective councils. Jewett said each city is expected to report back at the July Fire Board meeting regarding the level of interest in amending the JPA. The workshop and subsequent council meeting took no formal action on the matter; the council also removed the FD JPA resolution from the consent agenda earlier in the meeting for separate consideration.
Council direction was informational: staff and council members will consider the suggested JPA amendments internally and report at the July meeting; no draft JPA language or specifics were recorded in the minutes.
