Dellwood reviews REKOR camera increase covered by ARPA, schedules repairs and tables liquor permit

Commissioner Greg Boosalis told the council that the original REKOR contract included five cameras at $95,000; an additional camera to cover Meadow Ridge Estates raised the total to about $105,000. The minutes note the added cost is expected to be paid from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant funds and that the city should receive an invoice for approximately $105,000.

Boosalis said it was not the intent of the LPR project to obligate Clerk Joel Holstad to view collected data; the council discussed data-practices implications but did not record a formal policy change in the minutes. Treasurer Brian Beich was asked to report the ARPA account balance after payment of the REKOR contract.

Operations items: Road maintenance contractor Ken Johnson reported that heavy rains washed loose gravel from Shady Woods and Many Levels Drive and said he would construct a berm or add gravel fill as a temporary fix. Ramsay reported a damaged street sign; Mayor McGill reported a felled streetlight pole on Apple Orchard Road directing light into motorists' sightlines. McGill also reported seven building permits (three remodels, three re-roofs, one railing).

The council reviewed and unanimously approved the June 2024 claims and receipts list. The council noted City Engineer Cara Geheren is working on a trail design study funded by a SHIP grant; the study cost will not exceed $20,000. The application by the Mahtomedi Area Educational Foundation for a temporary liquor license was tabled to the August meeting pending additional applicant information.
