The Council approved opening Main Beach and Robinson’s Bay Beach this season; staff aims to expand lifeguard services to Sandy Beach around July 1 dependent on staffing and training levels.
Madsen described the planned hours as 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at Main Beach and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday at Robinson’s Bay Beach. Committee members noted a strong interest in making Sandy Beach a priority for summer coverage but made no formal motion; the Committee received the update as informational.
The roster approval by the City Council is the formal action setting staffing levels and initial beach openings. The Park Committee discussed how photos and on-the-ground reporting from members could help staff evaluate conditions and coverage as the season progresses. The Committee did not take further formal action on the beach patrol item at the May 5 meeting.
