The Saline County Board of Equalization on Feb. 17, 2026, approved a vehicle tax exemption application for Doane University following a brief public hearing.
Chairperson Stephanie Krivohlavek called the meeting to order at 9:15 a.m. and noted that notice of the meeting had been posted and published in compliance with state statutes. Krivohlavek advised the board would abide by the Open Meetings Act, which “is posted on the wall at the back of the room,” and the clerk confirmed that proceedings were being electronically recorded.
The board first handled routine business. Commissioner Russ Karpisek moved, and Commissioner Brian Pribyl seconded, approval of the meeting agenda; the motion carried. Pribyl then moved and Rohrig seconded approval of the minutes from the Feb. 3, 2026 meeting; that motion also passed.
The board opened a public hearing on vehicle exemption applications at 9:43 a.m.; no public comments were recorded and the hearing was closed at 9:44 a.m. After the hearing, Commissioner Ray Rohrig moved to approve a vehicle exemption application submitted by Doane University; Pribyl seconded and the motion carried.
The board also approved dates for protest hearings on permissive exemption applications on a motion from Rohrig, seconded by Karpisek. At 9:45 a.m. Pribyl moved to adjourn; Rohrig seconded and the meeting was adjourned.
County Clerk Diann Nettifee later certified the minutes as part of the official record on March 3, 2026. The board members recorded present were Chair Stephanie Krivohlavek, Commissioners Russ Karpisek, Brian Pribyl and Ray Rohrig; Commissioner Phil Hardenburger was absent.
