Board approves revised budget items and 2025-26 five-year capital plan; board discusses turf fund, bus penalties and facility priorities

Director of Fiscal Services Mr. Anthony Giovannone told the Board the June 30 balance is subject to spending down encumbrances and audit adjustments. He reported a $50,000 town contribution to the turf field replacement fund and explained that bus-company penalties were roughly $53,000 last year and about $34,000 this year. Mr. Giovannone also said the district expects a $500,000 ESG payment due in December; a portion of the $295,000 electricity line will be used toward that obligation and the projected year-end balance could shrink from approximately $3,500,000 to about $2,200,000 after adjustments.
Facilities Director Mr. Matthew Cunningham identified priorities including sidewalk repairs and replacement of a fire pump. Board Member Mr. Tom O'Brien noted tennis-court replacement is estimated at $1,000,000 and encouraged town collaboration because courts serve both school and community users. Mrs. Wendy Faulenbach urged pursuing grants and town partnership to soften district financial burden. The Board approved the 25-26 iteration of the five-year plan by unanimous vote.
