Eagle Lake park board lays out timeline for Fraze Park overhaul, weighing ninja course and skate park

The City of Eagle Lake Park Board on Jan. 8 began formal planning for an overhaul of Fraze Park, debating whether to pursue a ninja warrior course or a skate park and setting a June deadline for preliminary plans and cost estimates.

Anthony White told the board he has contacted the City of Jordan about its ninja warrior installation and is "waiting for their catalog to arrive," and members discussed the high costs associated with either option. Administrator Jennifer Bromeland suggested phasing the project, asking whether "scaling back the scope of the project would be beneficial and add to it gradually," and noted that the Taylor Family Farm Foundation has contributed additional funds that might be available as donations if the project qualifies.

Board members agreed donations and external funding will be necessary and emphasized that a concrete plan should precede major fundraising. The board asked members to bring research to the February Park Board meeting and set a target of having preliminary layouts, equipment lists and cost estimates by June so the plans can be presented at Tator Day and other summer city events.

Public Works Director Andrew Hartman agreed to provide contractor contacts for parking-lot work and pavilion construction, while Anthony White will gather vendor materials. The board also discussed minor site needs—grading and seeding the volleyball area and postponing edging and wood-chip installation at Fraze Park until the final plan is determined.

Next steps: members will report back in February; no funding commitments were made at the meeting.
