The Dover City Council on July 1 unanimously approved rezoning a former church property in town to R‑1 (single‑family residential). The council approved the change for lot 007, block 3 and lots 7 and 8, block 3 after a public hearing and a staff report review.
Applicant Marlene Erickson addressed the council during the public hearing and said her comments “mostly dealt with the asbestos findings in the structure,” according to the meeting record. The council reviewed a staff report on the application before voting.
Member Jodi Nicklay moved to approve the proposed zone change, Member Chelsie Kiekbusch seconded, and the motion carried unanimously. The approval includes a condition that a Certificate of Occupancy be issued by the city’s building inspector before anyone may move into the property.
The rezoning decision was taken during a regularly scheduled council meeting called to order by Mayor Dave Iseminger. No other public comments were recorded during the hearing, and the council closed the public hearing after the vote.
