Dexter council approves routine financial and administrative measures, closes 2020 water bond and authorizes delinquent-account shut-offs

At its Jan. 5 meeting the Dexter City Council approved a package of routine administrative and financial actions.
The council voted to pay the January bills as presented and accepted the December minutes and financial statements. By unanimous motion, the council adopted Resolution #01-26 appointing 2026 city officials (including CliftonLarsonAllen as auditor, Hoversten Law Office as city attorney, Caleb Howe as fire chief, and Natalie A. Carroll as water and sewer superintendent), Resolution #02-26 designating United Farmers State Bank as the city's depository and naming authorized signatories, and Resolution #03-26 adopting the 2026 fee schedule. The council also approved Resolution #04-04 appointing election judges Natalie Carroll, Wanda Boley, Joy Ihrke and Diane O'Connor for the 2026 primary and general elections.
The clerk recommended closing the 2020 Water Revenue Bond because it was producing only a small amount of interest; the council approved a motion to close the bond and transfer the $14,792.46 fund balance to the Water Fund. Separately, the council authorized issuing shut-off notices to delinquent water accounts for Gary Rech; Hunter Schultz; Zebidiah Tamez; Bryant Westrom; Oscar Rainville; and Matt Rahlf.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn that passed unanimously.
