Dawson Council approves auditor, liquor-license renewal and routine bills; Feb. 3 meeting moved

The Dawson City Council on Jan. 20 unanimously approved a series of routine administrative items, including a contract for 2026 auditing services and a liquor-license renewal.
Councilman Jeff Olson moved to approve the Meulebroeck, Taubert & Co. proposal for auditing services for 2026; Councilman Jake Bothun seconded the motion, which passed with six votes in favor (Vince Adelman, David Hansen, Dean Petersen, Jake Bothun, Randy Stafford and Jeff Olson). Councilman David Hansen moved to renew the liquor license for the Rusty Duck Bar & Grill; Councilman Randy Stafford seconded and the council voted in favor.
The council also approved payment of an invoice from the law firm Swenson, Nelson & Stulz after a motion by Councilman Dean Petersen and a second from Councilman Randy Stafford. In addition, Councilman Jeff Olson moved — and Councilman David Hansen seconded — to move the Feb. 3 meeting to Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 5:30 p.m. because of the caucus; that motion also passed unanimously.
Why it matters: These votes finalize routine city business and keep scheduled operations on track, including financial and legal obligations and meeting logistics. The measures passed with no recorded opposition.
