Saline County Board of Equalization approves homestead exemption appeal and four tax-list corrections

The board noted that the meeting notice had been posted in the County Clerk’s office and published in county newspapers to comply with state statutes and that the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room. Commissioner Russ Karpisek moved to approve the agenda; Commissioner Ray Rohrig seconded, and the motion carried.
The board approved the minutes of its February 17, 2026, meeting after a motion from Commissioner Ray Rohrig and a second from Commissioner Brian Pribyl. During the Citizens Forum there was no public participation and no correspondence was presented.
On substantive items, the Assessor’s recommendation on the 2026 permissive exemption application was entered with no action taken. The board then approved a 2025 homestead exemption appeal for B. Hurder after a motion by Commissioner Karpisek and a second by Commissioner Rohrig; the vote was recorded as four ayes and one absent.
The board also approved several tax-list corrections. Commissioner Karpisek moved to accept the Assessor’s recommendation for Tax List Correction 2026-10 (Rose Marie Melby); Commissioner Brian Pribyl seconded and the motion carried. Karpisek then moved to approve Tax List Correction 2026-11 (Rose Marie Melby), seconded by Pribyl; that motion passed. Commissioner Ray Rohrig moved and Commissioner Russ Karpisek seconded approval of Tax List Corrections 2026-12 and 2026-13 (both for Leoda Yost); both motions carried. All recorded votes show Commissioner Phil Hardenburger absent and the remaining four commissioners voting aye.
At 9:32 a.m. Commissioner Rohrig moved to adjourn; Commissioner Pribyl seconded and the motion passed. County Clerk Diann Nettifee subsequently certified the minutes on March 17, 2026.
