Eagle Lake EDA accepts treasurer's report, discusses legislative outreach and community events

At the Jan. 22 meeting the Eagle Lake EDA accepted the treasurer's report (EDA Fund $403,181.78; Loan Fund $42,119.69; SCDP $18,569.41), received notice of the 94th Minnesota Legislative Session and a Feb. 5 Greater Mankato forum, and discussed plans for the July 4 semiquincentennial and a possible summer craft fair.
The Eagle Lake Economic Development Authority accepted the treasurer's report at its Jan. 22 meeting and reviewed several items of community outreach and event planning.
The treasurer reported EDA Fund balances totaling $403,181.78, broken into $54,718.89 in the bank account and $348,462.89 in the 4M Investment Fund; the Loan Fund balance was reported as $42,119.69, and the Small Cities Development Program (SCDP) balance as $18,569.41. The report was accepted by the authority.
City Administrator Jennifer J. Bromeland notified members that the 94th Minnesota Legislative Session begins Feb. 17, 2026, and invited EDA members to the Greater Mankato Growth Legislative Forum on Feb. 5, 2026, to discuss regional priorities.
Member John Whitington suggested the EDA take a leadership role encouraging community celebration of July 4, 2026, the nation's semiquincentennial; members brainstormed ideas including fireworks, patriotic home decorations and red-white-and-blue lights on trees, and agreed to revisit planning. Member Brooke Wach reported that the Holiday Kids Craft Fair was well attended and the EDA discussed hosting a summer craft fair, potentially during Tator Days.
The meeting adjourned at 7:45 a.m. Attendees listed in the minutes were John Whitington, Tony Dickmeyer, Brooke Wach, Brian Hughes and Jim Beal.
