The Dover City Council on Jan. 2 approved a series of administrative motions covering personnel, appointments, auditing and utility fees.
Councilmembers voted to adjust wages for employees Gerald Schweitzer and Rick Jones effective in 2025. The council approved designations and appointments including the St. Charles Press as official newspaper; FDIC‑approved Minnesota financial institutions as depositories; attorneys Rob Olson and Andrew Tiede of GDO Law Firm (White Bear Lake); City Engineer Mark Welch of GGG; and Deputy Clerk Karen Henry. Committee assignments were confirmed for the EDA, Park & Recreation, Street and Ambulance committees, and Jaime Putzier was designated vice‑mayor.
The council voted to hire the accounting firm Smith/Schaffer to audit the city’s 2024 financial year. It also set the water meter charge at $10.75 and approved a $1 per month fee for customers who prefer monthly bills by letter rather than email. The council approved changing the signature card for the Dover Economic Development account to list Dan Bolton, Jaime Putzier and Gary Pedersen (removing Matt Elder and Karen Henry if not already removed).
Other routine motions — including approval of the meeting minutes, payment of bills and adjournment at 8:45 PM — carried.
